1. Who We Are
RBFS.golf (the "Website") is operated by RBFS Golf LLC, a California limited liability company ("RBFS", "we", "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to the Website and to the membership service offered through it. It is incorporated into our Terms & Conditions.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personally identifiable information:
Information you give us
- Account information — your email address, the name you choose to be addressed by, and a password, collected when you create a membership account.
- Billing information — your name and billing address, collected when you purchase a membership. Your card number is never collected by, transmitted to, or stored on RBFS.golf. Payment card details are entered directly into our payment processor's own hosted checkout page and are handled solely by them. See Payment Information.
- Correspondence — anything you choose to tell us when you email us.
- Marketing list — if you sign up for our email list: your email address and first name, and optionally your last name, your current handicap range, and your average golf score. Only the email address and first name are required; the rest you may leave blank.
- Where you came from — when you sign up for our email list we record, alongside your signup, how you reached the site: the campaign tag on the link you followed, or the website that linked you. This is stored only for the duration of your visit, in your browser, and is sent to us only if you actually sign up. We use it to understand which of our own channels work. It is not used to track you across other websites, and we do not share it.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs — our hosting provider records your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request, for the purpose of serving the site and protecting it from abuse.
- Video playback — our video host records that a video was played, in order to play it. See Video Playback.
We do not collect, and have no interest in, your golf scores, handicap, health information, location beyond the country-level inference in a server log, or any other category of information not listed above.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above only to:
- Create and maintain your membership account, and sign you in.
- Take payment for your membership and manage renewals and cancellations.
- Deliver the video lessons and other content your membership entitles you to.
- Answer you when you contact us.
- Send you membership emails, including the renewal reminders required by law.
- Send marketing email, if and only if you asked for it. You can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in it.
- Keep the Website running, secure, and free of abuse.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not rent, trade, or otherwise disclose it for anyone else's marketing purposes.
4. Who We Share Information With
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the Website work, and only to the extent each one needs it. The categories of third parties are:
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Memberstack | Email, chosen name, password (hashed), membership status | Accounts, sign-in, and content access |
| Stripe | Name, billing address, email, payment card details (entered directly with Stripe) | Payment processing and recurring billing |
| Kit | Email address, first name | Marketing email, if you opted in |
| Vimeo | IP address, playback events | Hosting and delivering lesson videos |
| Vercel | IP address, request logs | Website hosting |
| Google Fonts | IP address | Delivering the typefaces used on the site |
Each of these providers is bound by its own privacy policy and by its agreement with us. We encourage you to read theirs.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, our members, or the public. If RBFS is sold or merged, member information may transfer as part of that transaction; you would be notified.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Website uses a deliberately small number of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or tracking pixels of any kind. There is no Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, and no advertising network on this site.
The cookies that are set fall into one category only:
- Strictly necessary cookies. Our membership platform, Memberstack, sets cookies that keep you signed in and remember that your membership is active. Without these, you could not stay signed in and the Website could not tell a member from a non-member. These cookies are exempt from consent requirements under applicable law because the service you requested cannot be provided without them.
Our video host, Vimeo, is loaded in "do not track" mode on every lesson page. In this mode Vimeo does not set tracking cookies and does not build a profile of you across sites. It may set a cookie recording your playback position or volume preference for the video you are watching.
Because we set no advertising or analytics cookies, we do not show a cookie consent banner. If that ever changes, we will add one before the change takes effect, and we will update this policy.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the strictly necessary cookies above, you will not be able to sign in.
6. Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no industry consensus on what a website should do in response.
Our answer is simple: we do not track you across other websites or over time, whether or not you send the signal, so the signal does not change our behaviour. We do not permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information about your activity on other websites through our site.
7. Third-Party Collection Across Sites
California law requires us to tell you whether third parties may collect personally identifiable information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our site.
The embedded services listed in Who We Share Information With — principally Vimeo, and Google in its capacity as a font host — necessarily receive your IP address when their content loads. Vimeo is configured in do-not-track mode to prevent it building a cross-site profile. We do not authorise any third party to collect information about your activity across other sites through the Website, and we have included no service on the Website for that purpose.
8. Payment Information
RBFS does not collect or store payment card numbers. Membership payments are processed by Stripe, and card details are entered directly into Stripe's own hosted checkout page. That page is operated by Stripe, not by RBFS, and the card number never passes through our website or our servers.
We receive from Stripe only what we need to run your membership: your name, billing address, the last four digits and brand of your card, and whether a payment succeeded or failed.
Stripe is a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified service provider. Its handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
9. Video Playback
Lesson videos are hosted by Vimeo and embedded in our member pages. Videos are restricted so they can only be played from rbfs.golf.
Every embed is loaded with Vimeo's "do not track" parameter enabled. In this mode Vimeo does not use your viewing for advertising or cross-site profiling. Vimeo still receives your IP address, because it must in order to send you the video, and it records aggregate playback statistics for the video itself.
10. Email and Marketing
We send two kinds of email.
- Service email about your membership — confirmations, receipts, renewal reminders, cancellation confirmations, and important changes. These are part of the service you bought and you cannot unsubscribe from them while you remain a member.
- Marketing email, sent only if you asked for it. Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link, and we honour unsubscribes promptly. Our postal address appears in every marketing email, as required by law.
11. Data Retention
We keep account information for as long as you are a member, and for a reasonable period afterwards so that you can return without losing your history.
Records of your consent to automatically renewing charges are kept for three years, or one year after your membership ends, whichever is longer, because California law requires it.
Billing and tax records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
If you unsubscribe from marketing email, we keep a record of your email address on a suppression list, so that we do not email you again by mistake.
12. Reviewing and Changing Your Information
You may review, correct, or update the personal information we hold about you at any time:
- Directly — sign in and open your account settings to change your name, email address, or password, and to manage or cancel your membership.
- By asking us — email admin@rbfs.golf and we will review, correct, or delete information on request. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, which normally means replying from the email address on the account.
Deleting your account information will end your membership and your access to member content. Some records, such as billing and consent records, must be retained for the periods described above even after an account is deleted.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights over your personal information. We will honour any such right that applies to you, whether or not we are strictly obliged to.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email admin@rbfs.golf and we will delete it.
14. Security
Member accounts and passwords are handled by Memberstack; payments by Stripe. Both are specialist providers whose security practices exceed what a small business could implement alone, which is precisely why we use them rather than building our own.
The entire Website is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we do not hold the categories of information that make a breach most damaging — we hold no card numbers and no government identifiers.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will change the Effective Date at the top of this page.
If we make a material change — one that affects what we collect, how we use it, or who we share it with — we will notify members by email to the address on their account at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and we will post a notice on this page. Continuing to use the Website after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
16. Contact Us
Questions about this policy, or about the information we hold about you, go to admin@rbfs.golf and we will answer.
